Voici le texte en français de la vidéo :

I did my best to translate, if you see any mistake please don't hesitate to tell me so I can improve my English for next time! So we discovered what K-Pop is in 2016 even if in 2012 there was PSY with Gangnam Style we knew that K-Pop existed but we weren't interested at that time It truly is in 2016 that we became very interested Yes it is! We actually saw Squeezie's video, I saw it first for people who aren't French, Squeezie is a famous French youtuber and he did a video about YouTube channels about...
No, not about K-Pop about the most popular YouTube channels from South Korea and in those most popular YouTube channels a lot of them are entertainment companies' channels so it's K-Pop, and in his video he showed a bit of Monster MV by EXO and Dope MV by BTS? P: Yes! C: I don't remember...
Nevermind, he showed EXO and BTS and the visuals impressed me, it didn't look like Gangnam Style at all! So just after, I looked for EXO and BTS on YouTube to see other MVs and then I screamed "Pauliiiine!!!" Because our bedrooms are next to each other in our parents' house So I called her saying "Just look what I found, it's amazing!" And this is how we started to watch EXO and BTS MVs I had a huge crush on Monster by EXO and so yes, this is how we became K-Pop stans and when you Xiumin you can't Xiumout So what happened is that we became two EXO-L very fast.
So EXO-L is how EXO's fans are called Now we'll talk about how we lived that, because it actually is a lot less funny...
Between us it is funny because we can talk about it but with other people, there is a mindset problem here, in France, at any rate in where we live, it is frowned upon to listen to K-Pop, so we heard lots of comments, stupid, inappropriate and terrible comments so we're going to talk about all of that in this video! When we discovered K-Pop, I was in senior year, you were a ninth grade student/fourth year student.
We felt that it will be complicated with the people's mindset to tell them "I'm a K-Pop fan".
Yes It was weird it's like we unconsciously knew it, because we didn't know anyone else who was a K-Pop fan.
Like personally, I had neved seen anyone being laughed at for this because I didn't know anyone who was listenning to K-Pop However I knew that I shouldn't talk about it because I would be laughed at if I did Yes it's pretty weird! It's very weird because when you think about it it's just music but it's like you need to do a kind of "coming-out" saying like "I enjoy listenning to K-Pop" like "Please accept me even if I like K-Pop".
So, during High School I had a sweater with "Baekhyun" written at the back and EXO written at the front.
At the beginning I wouldn't dare wear it outside of my house but after some time, as I'm someone who's quite narrow-minded it started to bother me so I told myself that I liked my sweater so I want to go to high school wearing it, and if people ask questions I will just tell them that I like K-Pop, that's it! I don't know, I had kind of an utopian ambition I was thinking like I will just tell people that I like K-Pop and as I will admit it they will just be "Oh okay no problem, you do what you want!" It didn't happen like that! So, let's begin with the list of the comments that we heard.
We decided to select the ones we heard the most as well as the ones which were the most shocking because they were racist, homophobic, transphobic...
So, the first comment that I think we hear in first, it's like a reflex, "You too, you love Chinese people/You too you're a fan of Chinese music!" So...
Oh well guess what it's from South Korea! It's written in the name! Revelation! So they aren't Chinese, they're Korean.
I agree that some of them are Chinese, Thai, Japanese...
but most of them are Korean because it's K-Pop! If it comes from China it's called C-Pop! By the way, little story about this, one day I was listenning to music and there was one of my classmate that makes this kind of comments who arrived when I was listenning to Namanana by Lay.
And when he saw it he told me "You're listenning to your Chinese people again, oh no sorry they're Korean" He was laughing at me but in this instance, Lay is Chinese but I didn't dare tell him "No, he's Chinese" because for once he corrected himself even if he still laughed at me Next comment! "They are not even guys because they look too much like girls" I don't know what to answer to that Yeah Idk what to answer Next comment! "They aren't guys because they put on makeup" it's like the previous comment and you're right, sorry I forgot! A man can't put on makeup, he can't wear pink clothes, he needs to be muscular and to love girls only because if not then it's not a man, sorry I forgot.
So next comment is "How do you recognise them, they all look the same" I think we heard this one a lot On one hand, if we talk about it calmly I can understand because yes, I think every K-Pop fan can relate we all had a hard time recognising some members especially when you just got into K-Pop.
Personally, it took me some time to distinguish Luhan, Xiumin and Suho.
I don't know why, now when I think about it I'm ashamed of myself! The problem is that this comment, most of the time, is used in a mocking way.
But I don't see what's funny in this The next comment is quite horrible it's very simply "It's gay music" So first, it's homophobic and second, I'm kind because I said "It's gay music" but we usually hear "It's queer/fag/poof music" Which are violent insults against gay people So yeah, that's it, that's just a horrible thing to say Next comment! Which is a lot funnier, like a lot, and it's my favorite, it's...
Please listen to yourself well...
to yourself well? I'm so excited to say it!!! The next comment is...
You can't be handsome if you have slanted eyes BUT YOU LOOK LIKE A POTATOE!!! That's it, you look like a potatoe, and as I have nothing else to say, here are some pictures to prove that you're wrong *her stomach did a little noise* That was incredible So next comment, that we often hear, it's "What's the matter if you don't understand the lyrics?" So first, how can you know if I can speak Korean or not knowing that a lot of K-Pop fans started to learn Korean Second, there is something that is called "Lyrics translation" which we can read while listenning to the music and the people making this comment are the same people who twerked all the summer when listenning to Despacito while learning German! So...! Then, personally, I heard lots of comments saying "It's music for little kids/little girls" or "It's not real music" So...
First "it's music for kids/little girls" it's because people see K-Pop as something mostly with cute concepts but it's just a minority, K-Pop has a lot of different concepts Yeah, there isn't actually a lot of...
what? And after, "this is not real music" there isn't any argument so I don't see why we would answer It's baseless, it means nothing, it's useless So personally I started to listen to K-Pop when I was a ninth grade student/fourth year student as I was in middle school, I didn't say anything as the mindset in middle school isn't great.
So when I arrived in high school I thought it's high school, people grew up but the problem is that there were some people who knew that I enjoyed listenning to K-Pop, because they saw it on my phone or anything so I heard several comments like the ones we said before.
So in high school at the beginning I didn't really want to say anything about it.
Soon enough, I started to be ashamed to be ashamed, I thought...
you like EXO, that's it! It's just music, it's a group you shouldn't be ashamed of that, it's music that's it! So I told myself "Listen, you're a EXO-L, you're proud to be one" and I started to wear my sweaters, well, my sweater! I put my phone cases, and when people asked me I just said EXO is a K-Pop group, if you want to listen to it you can Usually people wouldn't answer "Oh okay I will listen to it!" But I tried! And so yeah that's it! And by the way I was happy to tell people who were laughing at me that PSY and Gangnam Style it is K-Pop and that it means that in 2012 they all danced to K-Pop and finally they had...
well they had bad faith saying "hum no this isn't K-Pop it's just a song coming from South Korea" Well, so it is K-Pop! So now comes the much sadder part it's what happened after Jonghyun's death and it's when I discovered how very very stupid they were Much more than I imagined So Jonghyun, for people who don't really know K-Pop, I will explain who he was, but if you already know what happened because you like K-Pop or if you don't like hearing about suicide because it makes you feel bad, you can directly go to the time displayed so you skip this part.
So Jonghyun, for people who don't know, was SHINee's main vocalist.
SHINee is a very famous and iconic K-Pop group Even Barack Obama talked about them in one of hi speeches so you can see how famous they are.
Jonghyun suffered from depression which is a sickness that we unfortunately don't take as seriously as we should So on December, 18th 2017 he committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning So it was a big shock in the K-Pop world He was one of the kindest idols he defended LGBT+ rights as well as women's rights, in a country like South Korea where it's not granted yet and these subjects are like taboos and more than that, K-Pop idols aren't meant to do politics and choose a side Jonghyun did it, and he suffered from a lot of backlash but he still did it because he was very kind and couldn't stand injustice He was an extraordinary person and being fan or not his death was quite devastating in the K-Pop world So as I think everyone else in the K-Pop world, the day after it happened I wasn't feeling very well, I didn't want to speak to a lot of people and the news was shared on the social media pretty fast so all my stupid classmates knew about what happened, and as they also knew I liked K-Pop I heard so many comments each time more horrible than the previous one So, the first thing that everyone would tell me is "You're not feeling well because of the "guy" who committed suicide" so as always they made their little joke about he wasn't a guy, he looked too much like a girl Then I heard "He was right because you see, your music is complete bullshit as even them can't put up with it" Truly, I didn't know what to answer because it has nothing to do with it, there are artists in the entire world who commit suicide.
Lastly there was Avicii, who wasn't Korean.
So yeah, it has nothing to do with K-Pop At the beginning I used to answer them to prove them they're wrong but eventually I understood that it was useless it was just tiring for me while I already didn't feel that well being in high school so I decided to not wear myself out even more with their stupid comments.
However, at one point, I heard the worst comment.
There was the most stupid guy who told me "Your guy didn't even have the ***** to jump or shoot himself in the head" Honestly, I didn't have the words, I didn't know what to say, I was just standing there like this isn't something you can say, this isn't a comment you can make you can't comment on someone's death like this, truly this is something I didn't understand and it really got me worked up so it made them laugh even more because they found a way to make me even more irritated than the rest of the day And so yeah, it made them laugh because I became too "touchy" according to them while "I didn't even know Jonghyun" and this is the same, just stop with these comments I didn't know what to say so of course I got angry and well...
that's it So that's it, I think we talked about everything we lived while "confessing" being K-Pop fans And well this is something horrible to see how mean people can be, especially when we think about what you said in the last part and that they are ignoramus, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, anything you want It was this subject that we wanted to talk about today to make everyone become aware of that Fortunately, we both have friends who are neutral and who are amazing because not everyone has to love K-Pop and we know it, we're not forcing anyone to like K-Pop and that's it, we like it and we would just like being able to enjoy it.
And on top of that we don't bother anyone with it we never listen to K-Pop loudly in the streets we just keep to ourselves the maximum we do is wearing a sweater refering to K-Pop but once again, it is our clothes so we dress as we want and so yeah, this truly is something we keep to ourselves so having people coming and saying However, you need to know that we grew up in a little town lost between mountains we went to middle school in this same wee town and then we went to high school in a little city which is a city so it was a bit bigger than our town but it stays a small city so people here are used to stay between themselves and so they are quite closed-minded and they didn't see K-Pop as something great but if you go in big cities like Lyon or Paris in France, in Lyon there are lots of people who do random dance challenges in the squares who have a big speaker and are dancing and the people who pass in front of them they just don't care, they pass in front of them if they like K-Pop of find it cool they stop to watch and if they don't like K-Pop or aren't interested or whatever they just keep walking, and no one is there like "HAHA they're dancing to Chinese music" So once again, this is our experience, what we lived and we're not saying that French people are all stupid, this is not that So we hope that you enjoyed this video it was the first one we did together and we hope to do lots of others like this one because it's much funnier together We have a lot of ideas of video we could do together so don't hesitate to tell us what you think about it, and if you have ideas of things you want us to do together or of subjects you want us to discuss you can tell us in the comments below!
